The Environment

Now I'm all for jumping on the bandwagon about cleaning up the air and ridding our landfills of all the plastic that we seem to use. Good grief just one of those plastic bags that you bring your groceries home in takes 1000 years to disenagrate. And face it, we never have just one. Three or four is more like it.

That being said. I'm tired of the celebrities jumping on us, the American people to do something. Like they don't do anything? Excuse me but have you ever watched the award shows? How many of them show up, alone, in a limo? Do you know what it takes to run one of those?

And what about all of the celebrities that fly? Or worse, have their own planes. We're supposed to do without just about everything so they can just be glad they spoke up?

Here's an idea. How about the next year at the Academy Awards, they all show up in one of the diesel bus's that the country/western stars seem to have? Wouldn't that be great? To see all of the stars pile out like school children one by one in their tuxedos and one of a kind dresses?

Seriously, it's really hard to WANT to do anything once a celebrity gets involved. They all think they're so special. I would love to see just how many lights are left on at one of their homes they only use on occasion. And do you think their gardens go unattended because they're not there? HA!!! They get watered just like my backyard yet I'm the one thats supposed to feel bad that we're running out of everything. Well I don't even drive so right there by not owning a car I'm doing probably more than just about any celebrity is don't you think?

Sure, we should all do something to help with the environment. Use recycled paper towels (which cost a fortune) Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. Now that is a good idea because you use eight gallons of water from the time you turn the faucet on till you turn it off. That's a lot of water that you really don't need to be using.

We can replace the light bulbs in our home. Replace just one and you'd be amazed at how much that helps. Really.

There are a lot of things we, as the normal American people can do. But the movie stars as far as I'm concerned. Well they can start picking each other up when they're staring in the same movie. Ride that bus I was talking about to the award shows, turn off THEIR lights and water while not at home and get off my back.

Just Imus???

Well, he's finally gone and done it. Yep, that famous (or at least one of the shock jocks) Imus was fired for racial comments he made over the air. I think this is actually good. I don't like most of the shock jocks anyway and to be honest, I thought Stern would get nailed first. However, it was Imus. But here's what gets me.

Imus ISN'T the only one. What about all the black people that are racial? What about those Rappers like Snoop Dogg, P Diddy and Ice T? Doesn't anyone remember the song Cop Killer? I do and I wouldn't allow it in my home. With all the rappers singing about Hos and screwing around and murder and gangs, it's no wonder the kids of today are desensitized. Why should anything bother them?

And then what about the comedians? Have you heard Chris Rock or early Eddie Murphy? Have you heard any comedian actually? And it's not just the guys, Kathy Giffin is really disguesting and Roseanne can be just as crude. It's everywhere and guess what? So our the kids we're raising.
What really kills me is that we, as parents, allow the music to be brought into our homes. Allow the kids to watch these movies that they're just not ready for.

No, Imus is a start but if we're going to jump down his throat then lets start jumping down the rappers throats as well as the comedians. I also think (and yes, this is my View) that the N word should be banned from anyone being allowed to say it whether it's in a song, a joke or to each other.

Imus? What Imus said over the air he heard from a song. Which rapper would like to take the credit for the lyrics? Lets see them stand up now.

I'm Annie and that's my View. I welcome yours.

My View on some of the things going on

This will probably tick off a lot of people but I don't think we should have any type of working permits for the illegals in this country. Hello, they're not even supposed to be here. Now before you write me a scathing letter telling me that the country was FOUNDED on illegals. I know that. However, none of them snuck into the country. They all worked. Yes, worked. They didn't sit on their bums and collect checks from the government but rather, they actually got working Visas and well, worked.
Our President says we should do this. Well, we should also turn into 17 year old boys and pull out of this country we're fighting over in but He won't do that either. There are a lot of things we should do but haven't. We should have helped the people right after the Katrina debacle but did we? No.

Sadly, I'm just not really happy right now with the war, and the situations going on here in America.

I do think if you really WANT to be here you should be. But I also feel you should work and not under the table either. You should learn the language as well.
So there you go. My View and I welcome yours

A Poem (It Only Takes Just One)

It doesn't take a thousand men,
It only takes just one
It takes one filled with hate
To send another of God's Sons
Up to the pearly gate.

It doesn't take a thousand men
It only takes just one
To steal another life of God's
With the trigger of a gun.

It doesn't take a thousand men,
It only takes just one
To beat a man all black and blue
And then, just simply run.

It doesn't take a thousand men
It only takes just one
To rape a girl, leave her to die
Before the setting sun

It doesn't take a thousand men
It only takes just one
To pat a child on their back
And say, this job, Well done.

It doesnt' take a thousand men
It only takes just one,
To sit and read with his sweet boy
And say I love you Son.

It doesn't take a thousand men,
It only takes just one!

Another Day

Today was pretty much the starting day of my gardening. I love gardening almost as much as I love writing, working out, and stitching. All three seem to center me. Which is a good thing if you think about it. I mean, everyone needs something to calm them. Something to center them and keep them from going insane. These are my three. Well, that and a few people I have allowed to get close to me.

Although I am outgoing and my feelings I wear on my sleeve, not everyone really knows me. I like that actually. It's who I am.

My garden is starting to look just like everyone elses. That's dull in case you didn't know what I meant. You know, how you drive by houses and see the same things everywhere? The same flowers, plants and shrubs? I don't like that. I like changing it up a bit. Okay, a LOT. Oh I have favorites don't get me wrong. Carnations are wonderful and Daffodills well, I really don't think there is a prettier flower. I also love Gerber Daisys but I thhought this year I needed something I hadn't ever had. But what???

Then while shopping in the garden section I found them. A friend told me about these a while ago but I hadn't ever run across them. She said there the best smelling flower and boy was she right.

Stocks. That's right stocks but not to be confused with hollyhocks or foxgloves. No, stocks are a flower that are in a class all by themselves. They smell so wonderful. I had to buy some. Yes, I simply had to. And buy them I did.

Today I spent the day pulling some unwanted weeds and even some bulbs that I thought I'd grown tired of and I put in the stocks right outside my front door. I think I may have to plant more of these along the walkway while waiting for everything else to bloom. (Like the carnations)

I have had a full weekend. That's for sure. Babysitting, gardening and Yes, even stitching.

Want a new flower that will smell so wonderful. Try Stocks and your welcome.

Still So Angry

My Aunt and one of her Sons just got back from seeing her oldest boy. He's getting ready to go off to this stupid war that as far as I'm concerned has just become a Giant pain in America's butts. At first, because of 9/11, I was all for the war and, truth be told I probably still would be if the armed services weren't needed so many other places. We finally nailed Saddam, he's dead, now I think it's time for the armed Services to go somewhere else. Somewhere that I feel has been neglected and that, is Louisiana. Katrina struck hard and people are STILL there. We've done pretty much nothing for them. Why? Why are other countries so much more important than our own? Why must we go to Darfur or Africa when people are in critical need of help HERE AND NOW? The movie stars do it all the time. Oprah just built a school in Africa. Now please, don't get me wrong, I agree all of the children all over the world need help. Lead Singer of U2's, Bono is behind the red campaign at the Gap so that aids victims in Africa won't die. I'm so glad someone is looking out for them. But what about the children, Mothers, Fathers, and everyone else that lost people when Katrina happened? What are we going to do for them? The state needs to be re-built. Shouldn't we be there? I guess this just stems from the fact that my cousin is leaving to go over there and of course, I'm worried. Worried for his health and safety. Worried for my Aunt and of course, the rest of my family. Mostly, I'm worried for Keith and all the other men and women serving over there. I just wish they were here.

Women Still Get The Short End (Jan 7th)

Ahh, parades. Almost everyone loves a parade. The marching bands. The drill teams. The floats. And of course, the commentators. Yes, everyone loves a parade. Everyone but me. And yet, there I sat in my overstuffed chair, with the heat on watching the New Years Day parade. Nothing new. It's an annual thing. A tradition. Besides, for the most part, it's pretty much the ONLY thing on unless your a football fanatic. But I tune in for the commentators because they're always so funny and full of life. They seem almost chipper as they sit there freezing their buns off, drinking coffee and commenting on all of the wonderful floats. Yes, it's always fun listening to Stephanie Edwards and of course, The host of the Newlywed Game, Bob Eubanks. So, imagine my surprise when I found out that Stephanie Edwards had been let go. Fired is the word I think I'll use. Why? Because she's old. That's right. She isn't young therefore she's old. So, she now can't sit and comment because she's old? What? Excuse me? Why is Bob still there? Oh yes, that's right, his contract is up this year as well. Do you think Bob will return? Do you think they'll ask him? Do you think he'll say Yes? Of course he will. Why, he stated on National television that his contract was up and he'd like very much to return. Yet, No Stephanie. Word is she too would have loved to have returned even though she wasn't getting the money that Bob was. As a matter of fact, she was getting nowhere near the amount of money Eubanks was making. Maybe that's why Bob wants to return. Isn't it the ONLY thing he does now? My point is the new girl is well, young. Yes, lets just say she's young. Along with inexperienced, dull as dirt and well, boring. She and Bob didn't seem to be having as good a time as he and Stephanie and frankly, neither was I. Why, I actually fell asleep watching this years parade. (lucky for me it ran again 4000 times) Yet I really didn't much care. No, they've blown the parade for me. And by doing what? By getting rid of one of the few reasons to watch. The fun banter between both Stephanie and Bob. And for what? Because Stephanie has gotten old. How was she to stay young? It's just not done. You just grow old and hopefully with dignity. Last year Stephanie didn't even get to sit next to Bob but rather in the stands along with the freezing people who, for some odd reason, love to sit there for days waiting for the parade while hoping they're not rained on. No. I think next year, I'll just sleep in.
